drug and alcohol detox“Detoxification is a set of interventions aimed at managing acute intoxication and withdrawal. It denotes a clearing of toxins from the body of the patient who is  dependent on substances of abuse. Drug and alcohol detox seeks to minimize the physical harm caused by addiction the abuse of substances.” (Center for Substance Abuse Treatment , 2006 TIP45)

Making Detox a safe and comfortable process is the focus of High Point Treatment Center’s Program. We offer a supportive, medically based program designed to assist the patient during their detox process in a safe and efficient manner. We are currently licensed for 20 Residential Treatment beds including 10 specifically designated for Methadone Detox. We are a Joint Commission accredited drug and alcohol detox facility that recognizes this service is a primary and necessary step in the establishment of long term recovery.

While the patient is undergoing medical detox from drugs or alcohol, psychotherapy commences. Each patient has an assigned therapist that will work with him/her from the very beginning and help in the transition to long term sobriety. This process introduces patients to the recovery process and provides psychotherapy and psychoeducational groups on topics such as relapse prevention, coping skills and processing feelings. In addition, individual, family and/or couples therapy is provided as the need arises.

All High Point patients are treated with compassion, respect, and understanding. Once medically stable and substance free, patients are ready to move on to residential and outpatient treatment. These steps are crucial in the achieving long-term recovery. To learn more about High Point’s residential and outpatient drug and alcohol detox programs, click here.
